Preserve Fishing Creek Valley (PFCV) is now up and running as a recognized 501C (3) non-profit organization! Formally organized on February 2, 2021, its mission stated above is a simple one. The organization is moving on from one associated with “stop the warehouse” to one more holistic in preserving the beauty and strength of the Valley.
The Preserve Fishing Valley organization has interest and support from other conservation organizations. They include the DCNR funded Kittatinny Coalition (led by Audubon PA), the Manada Conservancy, and the Central Pennsylvania Conservancy. Larger conservation organizations, like a The Nature Conservancy have been successful with projects nearby.
To preserve the community character and natural resources in Fishing Creek Valley.
To kick 2022 off – we will be Hosting a Town hall meeting in the Spring of 2022 to get the valley’s input on work projects ad community engagement. We hope to get your feedback and to rally the community to join in the preservation efforts of our treasured valley.
The Board of Directors will be developing the PFCV Work Plan for the rest of 2022 part of which will be setting up the following Committees in accordance with our By-Laws:
Fundraising: To work with the Treasurer in establishing achievable fundraising goals.
Membership: To establish a membership development program, including general member outreach (website/newsletter content and distribution).
Activities: To develop and coordinate an annual schedule of community events.
Conservation: To work with land conservancies and other agencies in identifying potential parcels for conservation purposes.
Government Relations: To maintain contact with and provide comments to local, county, and Commonwealth agencies, as needed.
The organization’s success is driven by your involvement. Volunteer to get involved in any of the above committees or anything else of interest to you. Join us in the spring Town Hall and bring a friend and your ideas.
The Fishing Creek community has been extremely generous for past efforts of Save Fishing Creek Valley. The PFCV is a non-profit organization and any donations to support the organization’s activities are tax-deductible and needed. PFCV is totally volunteer driven but still needs funding to implement our mission. New membership opportunities will be available soon!
New PFCV signs will be available at Bill and Cindy’s Valley Store. Stop by and trade in your “Stop the Warehouse” sign for the “Preserve Fishing Creek Valley” sign or purchase a new sign
